Creative eLearning LLC.                                                 April 2016- Present      In the role of eLearning designer my focus is on end to end product development. Starting with the customer in mind and using UX research to identify key areas for improvement within a given product or process as well as with new platforms and prototypes. Constructing design plans that focus on usability, content design and assessment to create a targeted approach to learning.

Product Design Manager, Wiley-Global Education          June 2011- April 2016                                     

Managing Wiley’s Accounting, Business, and Psychology Product Design team responsible for designing, building and implementing Wiley’s digital strategy in Higher Education ($185M) – the highest grossing revenue in online learning within Wiley’s Higher Education division

 

Adaptive & Personalized Learning

  • Work across functional teams to develop the first ORION Adaptive Practice Module in 2013 (field trials) for use within WileyPLUS and WileyPLUS Learning Space  online courses

  • Develop and implement Learning Design strategies to create adaptive practice content within ORION to help students gain proficiency and meet or exceed their learning goals

  • Build upon user experiences in field trials to enhance both the functional and content capabilities within ORION for wide scale rollout in 2015

Results:  ORION has supported 325K users, 450 user-hours, and 39 million question attempts since release in 2015

 

Course Design & Project Management

  • Lead and train a team of digital product designers through course design and development.  This includes market research, user research, design planning, content development, requirements, implementation and delivery

  • Create and implement structured design plans within budget for complete course solutions

  • Communicate design intentions using current design tools and processes; ensuring all designs adhere to and exceed our customers’ standards for success

  • Collaborating with instructors, administrators, and instructional design teams to implement effective course design strategies using Wiley digital solutions – built by my team

  • Define and delivering on key data required by instructors to measure course outcomes

Results: Designed and produced 150 complex courses on time and within budget

 

Learning Object Design and Development

  • Analyze market trends, user research and author’s vision to conceptualize learning objects

  • Define design and templates for all learning objects to ensure consistency within and across products

  • Create a templated approach to video question assistance within our course design

  • Work with creative teams to conceptualize highly stylized designs for interactive graphics, HTML objects and video components

  • Manage all aspects of budgets and processes within a global P&L ($1.5M) throughout the project life cycle

  • Create RFPs, review bids and own vendor selection decisions

  • Acquire and train freelance support to assist in technical development, assessment review, and functional requirements

Results:  90% consistent yearly validation rates while managing to budget with a gross profit of $100M.

 

 

 

Executive Product Designer, Wiley – Global Education     June 2008- May 2011                        

  • Managed the creation of online courses across the business school curriculum ($175M in yearly revenue)

  • Defined and implemented new functionality to enhance our course design

  • Created a full suite of accounting assessment types in 2009.  The first publisher to provide instructors with online assessment that aligned with professional standards and problem solving techniques

  • Utilized user research and competitive platform analysis to  define the project

  • Articulated the overarching needs and then defined authoring and development requirements to meet those goals

  • Worked across teams to refine  business requirements based on the technical scope and business priority to create a project plan that achieved functionality release within a 12 month term

  • Managed the creation of CD/DVD based applications, web and hybrid applications to support content for all Business School disciplines using Wiley texts

  • Created and launched Wiley’s first online learning platform (WileyPLUS) in the largest revenue grossing course for Higher Education:  Kimmel, Financial Accounting. Worked seamlessly with authors to create content to be effectively relayed in a digital format

  • Developed a comprehensive understanding of how to help students and instructors overcome challenges using digital content

  • Created plans to manage all aspects of  processes, schedules, and budgets for multiple individual projects
